2024 Acura ZDX Trim Levels Explained

The Acura ZDX nameplate began its life as a somewhat controversially styled coupé SUV back in 2010 and was discontinued three years later due to poor sales.

Now for 2024, the Japanese luxury automaker decided to bring back the nameplate, though it’s a far cry from its first-gen predecessor. Built on the BEV3 electric vehicle platform shared with General Motors, the ZDX is Acura’s first all-electric model.

Projected to hit showroom floors in early 2024, the ZDX is offering two distinct trim levels; A-Spec, and Acura’s performance-oriented Type S trim. Showcasing Acura’s essential and subtly menacing design language, standard 18-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system, and backed by its well-known penchant for reliability, the ZDX is shaping up to be an exciting way to go electric.

ZDX Type S

For the first time, Acura has applied the sporty Type S treatment to an SUV in the 2024 all-new Acura ZDX Type S. Central to the Type S treatment is power, and the ZDX Type S is no slouch. With an estimated 500 horsepower, Acura is predicting this will rocket the ZDX Type S from 0-60 in less than five seconds. A dual-motor, AWD configuration is standard for the Type S, along with a 102-kWh battery that is anticipated to offer an EPA-estimated 288 miles of range.

The ZDX Type S receives 15.6-inch front Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers sitting behind 22-inch machined alloy wheels. Additionally, the Type S trim will offer Acura’s eye-catching Tiger Eye Pearl paint, a deep gold that matches well with the ZDX Type S’s black roof and accents.

ZDX A-Spec

The ZDX A-Spec, while receiving less power than its varsity-level counterpart, can still hold its own with ease. The A-Spec offers a 340 horsepower configuration, which can be tethered to either a single-motor, RWD configuration or the dual-motor AWD configuration shared with the Type S. An estimated 0-60 time of less than six seconds is reported, so speed is still well accounted for.

The A-Spec enjoys an increase in estimated range over the Type S, with up to 325 miles expected from the RWD variant, and 315 miles from the AWD.

Thanks to decades of dependable vehicles, Acura can always be trusted to deliver reliable and long-lasting cars. The brand has created some iconic sports cars in the past as well, with the Type S trim being synonymous with speed and driving prowess.

If history is to be repeated, and it often is, the Acura ZDX may very well turn out to be a powerful force in the ever-competitive EV SUV market.
