More Cadillac EVs Expected Ove the Next Two Years

Cadillac recently announced the start of production for three new EVs that will begin the process in 2024 to be offered as part of the 2025 model year.

Although Cadillac typically doesn’t comment or offer details regarding future models, is almost hard to believe that we know this much. Currently, Cadillac only offers the Lyriq midsize crossover SUV which went on sale last years. Next, we’ll see the high-priced Celestiq which begins production in December and comes with a $300,000 price tag. This means we’ll have two EVs wearing this brand name by the end of the year.

What’s coming down the line for Cadillac?

Eventually, the entire Cadillac lineup will be made of electric vehicles, but for now, we’re in a transition period. Once the Celestiq arrives, we’ll begin to look forward to the next model. We should see a new electric version of the Cadillac Escalade called the IQ offered before the end of 2024.

This full-size electric SUV along with an electric compact crossover and large crossover to bookend the Lyriq will all arrive by the end of next year. Once this occurs, the next electric vehicle form this brand will be the longer-wheelbase electric version of the Cadillac Escalade, which will be called the IQL.

By 2030, Cadillac aims to complete the transition to an all-electric vehicle lineup in North America.

The Cadillac Lyriq took a slow road

Production of the new 2022 Cadillac Lyriq began last year. As the first of the Cadillac EVs to hit the market, this model didn’t take off. Cadillac deliberately held back sales and production of this new luxury EV to ensure quality of the vehicle. This slow start resulted in a total of 122 models sold in the entire United States last year.

What should we know about the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq?

If you’re looking for the next generation of the Cadillac brand, you’ll find it in the Lyriq. This impressive new electric SUV is whisper-quiet, spacious, luxurious, and packed with incredible features for a great drive. You won’t find a frunk in this EV or the same acceleration that’s part of the Tesla Model X, but for a first entry into the EV world, the Lyriq is pretty impressive.

How much power does this Cadillac offer?

The Lyriq is the first of the many Cadillac EVs coming down the pipeline. This impressive new luxury vehicle delivers 340 horsepower in the RWD version while AWD models add a second electric motor to deliver 500 horsepower for the ride. Both versions of this SUV include a 102-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The drive of this impressive electric SUV comes from a smooth ride that takes off from a starting point with ease. This brisk and relaxed ride delivers ample power for driving wherever you need to go. If you must push the Lyriq hard, it can hit 60 mph in six seconds, which is pretty good. Of course, the dual-motor version is even better, bringing amazing acceleration to your drive.

If you need to tow a load behind this Cadillac SUV, the Lyriq is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds when the dual-motor AWD version is selected.

Does the Lyriq offer the desired driving range?

The RWD Version of the Cadillac Lyriq delivers 312 miles of driving range on a full charge. This is an impressive number and extremely competitive in the market. the Genesis GV60 comes with 248 miles of driving range, the BMW iX has 324 miles, and the Tesla Model Y can achieve 330 miles of driving range. We’re not sure about the AWD dual-motor model yet, but it should also offer a useful and desirable driving range. Choosing the Lyriq makes driving pretty easy for you. This electric SUV comes with a great package of features to go with the driving range.

How long does it take to recharge the Lyriq?

This first of the many Cadillac EVs comes with an impressive recharging system to keep your drive going. The Lyriq can be charged using a Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 charger. Using a Level 3 DC Fast- Charging station, the Lyriq will add up to 76 miles of range in only 10 minutes. The at-home charger you’ve installed provides 240-volts of power using a Level 2 system to recharge the battery to full in 7 to 14 hours. Using a traditional 120-volt household outlet, you’ll add a few miles of range, but this shouldn’t be the charging system you rely on every day.

How does the cabin area feel in the Cadillac SUV?

When you’re looking for the high-end cabin expected of a luxury Cadillac model, the Lyriq offers what you’re after. This SUV brings soft-touch surfaces, rich upholstery, open-pore wood, and metal trim to give you the overall appearance you desire.

The center of the dashboard features a large 33-inch curved LED display which has two screens. The left screen is a large gauge cluster while the right screen is the infotainment system. These screens are highly configurable to ensure you see as much or as little information as you desire.

You’ll find a single line of switches on the dashboard which make it easy for you to adjust the climate settings during your drive. This is a nice feature considering most modern EVs are turning to an entirely touchscreen-based system.

Its an SUV, can it function as an SUV?

The Cadillac Lyriq offers 28 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 60.8 cubic feet when the seats ae folded down. This allows the Lyriq to offer a healthy dose of cargo room for an electric SUV.

Overall, the Cadillac Lyriq is an excellent SUV when you want a new luxury EV to drive. Cadillac is bringing many more EVs to the market over the next couple of years. The impressive level of power and driving range makes this SUV a great choice. Surprisingly, the starting price for this new Cadillac EV is only $63,000 which means it qualifies for the Federal EV tax credit.

Will you choose the Lyriq or wait for one of the other Cadillac EVs to hit the market?
