It seems with this new unleashing of the V Series models at Cadillac, and a partnering with Chevrolet to take some features from the Corvette, Cadillac is no longer satisfied to just be a high class car brand, but now wants to be a brand that many turn to for power, performance, luxury features and an amazing driving experience. With a history that reaches back 112 years you might think Cadillac would be satisfied to sit back and enjoy the success its history has brought, but that is surely a recipe for disaster and thankfully Cadillac knows better.
The already popular CTS will now show off as a CTS-V model that shows a bold appearance and an awesome super power engine that spits out 640 horsepower. This bring the CTS-V in line to compete with the Audi S5, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Sedan and with the track ready chassis the CTS-V will give any owner the thrilling ride they desire and leave these competitors standing on the side gawking at the car as it flies by in beauty and grace.
As stated, some of the performance features come from the Corvette and for the CTS-V this is actually the LT4 engine. This 6.2-liter supercharged V8 beast is an awesome start to this amazing car and Cadillac chose to take this engine and make it more efficient that the one found on the Z06. Where the Corvette focused on power and performance, the CTS-V focused on efficiency to make the car one of the best on the road when it enters the market in 2016. Even though this car has a direction different from its high powered cousin, the CTS-V can reach sixty mph in only 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 mph; what other luxury car in its class can do this?
When Cadillac adds the “V” to the CTS, the improvements are phenomenal. Other than the engine, the structural and suspension features have been enhanced to add stiffness and strength that is 25 percent greater than the CTS model. Add the third generation Magnetic Ride Control and Performance Traction Management systems and the upgrades for the CTS-V over the CTS are simply amazing, making this a track-ready, high powered, and performance laden car that bears the Cadillac name, if that doesn’t blow the minds of many of the naysayers I’m not sure what would.
Certainly we can discuss the awesome luxury features found in the CTS-V, or talk about the change from the old models to the new for Cadillac, but that would serve little purpose. Just knowing the massive difference in power and the ability for this car to head out to the track and actually compete with vehicles that are made for the track should be sufficient to explain what the new V-Series of Cadillac is all about. Adding the V-Series to some of the most luxurious and exciting Cadillacs that have prowled the streets in recent history give Cadillac an almost unfair advantage over the rest, which is great for us as we get to enjoy driving one of these awesome cars.
