Is a New Cadillac Coupe in the Works?

Cadillac

Cadillac is a brand that has undergone several changes over the past two decades to become a brand that offers us the luxury we want to enjoy.
Originally simply the best luxury brand on the market, Cadillac experienced decades of supremacy as other brand worked their way to come close to the level of excellence achieved by Cadillac. As other brand crept closer and eventually took over the preferred spot at the top of the luxury market, Cadillac saw the need to make changes and become a brand that would excite us.

The Changes We Saw in Cadillac

Once the Cadillac team recognized they had become a brand of large, lumbering sedans and an unimaginative performance, they worked hard to change into a brand that offered a more active drive. This brought the new models, new styles, and amazing qualities we’ve loved for the past several years. Whether it was the upgraded technology, the lighter feeling of the cars, or the style that showed a nod to the past and a hint at the future, the Cadillac brand began a transformation that captured our imagination and let us see and know what performance luxury would be.
The creation of the V Sport part of the Cadillac brand brought on more of the qualities and impressive driving dynamics for our admiration than ever before. Those looking for the performance of a sports car in a luxury brand turned to the ATS-V and CTS –V which both shared engines with the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette for the fun and power desired. These two names helped to save the brand and remind us why a Cadillac is the right choice when we want to have a fantastic luxury vehicle to drive and show off on the road.

Is Cadillac Turning Away from Performance

The current plan for this brand is to offer a few more midsize and compact luxury crossover SUVs and several luxury sedans for the drive. Right now, there isn’t a place in the lineup where we see a performance luxury sedan or coupe for the drive, but that might change. New information has surfaced that shows a patent drawing filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office that is a car that would and could become the sports luxury coupe to take the next step for the brand and replace the ATS-V and CTS-V.
This filing shows a car that heavily resembles the Cadillac Escala concept model which was one of the award winners when it comes to concept vehicles in the past. This car is drawn with a rear that has a large diffuser and four integrated exhaust tips. There are also extra wide hips drawn in this new car to make it a coupe that could absolutely grab our attention. Toss the new 4.2-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that makes 550 horsepower under the hood and this could become a car that will gain an amazing following very quickly. It’s possible a new concept from this filing could be shown at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
