This extension is two-years or 40,000 miles which brings you to a warranty of seven-years/100,000 miles of coverage to make sure your transmission will be covered. What if You Paid for Repairs?

If you have paid for repairs to the clutch or the transmission for your Focus or Fiesta model, you will be reimbursed for the cost of those repairs. This new warranty doesn’t change the ten-year/150,000-mile transmission control module warranty, but it does give you the added comfort you want to drive your car and know that it will perform the right way for you. You’ll have the opportunity to be paid back for the repair work that has been done on the vehicle that you drive every day.

An Update for You

In addition to the new warranty for the Focus and Fiesta models from 2014-2016, a software update is offered for the transmission control module. This update was announced several months ago and 84 percent of the owners have had the update installed, but that still leaves 16 percent that haven’t come to dealerships yet. This update is offered to give enhanced warnings to indicate when the transmission control module is going to fail and Ford would like to reach 100 percent compliance with this update to make sure every Ford Focus or Fiesta from this time period the features needed.

How Many Cars are Affected

The number of Ford cars that will be affected by this new warranty and that still haven’t had the update installed is a bit surprising. Although these two Ford models are two of the most popular, the number that will have the extended warranty is 560,000 and the number of cars that still need the update applied is 165,000.
