The Maserati Levante Receives a Ferrari Upgrade

The Maserati Levante Receives a Ferrari Upgrade

There’s no denying that Italian automotive names carry a specific amount of prowess and a place in the market that’s far above the mainstream area that most of us have to shop. Even when you see an SUV offered by an Italian automaker, the vehicle needs to be one that’s robust, and powerful to excite your senses. Maserati has chosen to build a new model of the Levante to fit under the Trofeo model and offer you the power you want. This new model for 2019 is called the GTS and it gives you what you want for the drive.

Getting the Power You’re Looking for

Take the new Maserati Levante GTS out on the road for a test drive and you’re going to have the benefits of a comprehensively tuned 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that can produce up to 550 horsepower and 538 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is backed by an amazing ZF eight-speed automatic transmission to offer you the power and speed you seek. Imagine an SUV that can rocket to sixty mph in four seconds and offer you a top speed of 181 mph, that’s an SUV that certainly captures your attention.

In order to make this possible in an SUV that brings you the benefits of the Q4 Intelligent AWD system, the engineers had to change quite a bit about the engine. The crankcase was redesigned, there’s a new oil pump, the drive belt, and wiring layouts have been changed, and the crankshaft has been improved. The adding of higher-flow turbochargers and a pair of intercoolers allow the engine to have more power than in the past to give you the excitement you want when you get behind the wheel for a drive.

Making the Drive Right

The drive for this SUV is able to route power to the rear wheels in normal conditions, but when needed, the AWD system will send up to fifty percent of the power to the front wheels. There’s also a limited slip differential to help improve the traction and handling. The suspension used for the Levante GTS is an air system that can be adjusted to six different levels to give you three inches of travel total. The stopping power comes from large brake rotors and pads to make sure you can control the incredible number of horses found under the hood.

The new Maserati Levante GTS is assembled by Ferrari in Maranello, Italy to give this SUV an even more exclusive feeling. The interior of the SUV is posh and exactly what you expect when you choose to drive an SUV that wears the trident on the front as the symbol of Maserati. If this is an SUV you think you might want to drive, it will be offered at the beginning of 2019 and will certainly command a high price. Even so, it’s not often that you can drive as fast as this SUV will allow you to and have a pure luxury offered.
