Comparing Three Different but Similar EV Models

The goal seems to be the same for the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Nissan Leaf, and Tesla Model 3. This goal is to provide the automotive world with affordable EV models that can go farther.
On the surface, it seems that all three have been successful at performing this feat, but all three do offer a bit of a challenge to the EV drivers on the road. Let’s take a look at these models now.

Chevrolet Bolt EV

Until the Nissan Leaf arrived, the Chevrolet Bolt EV was the only long-range EV in the price range of less than $40,000 to give us the drive we want. Chevrolet certainly took advantage of this fact and offered this SUV around the country starting in California and making its way eastward. At first glance, and with what we know about this car, it seems the 238-mile range would be the clear favorite, but the video below shows us that this wasn’t the favorite vehicle of those who took these three EV models and pitted them against each other.

Nissan Leaf

Overall, the Nissan Leaf was the favorite of the makers of the video because it seemed to hit the right mark with them. The Nissan Leaf does offer a 150-mile driving range in order to give you plenty of daily driving. This car is also one that came in as the least expensive for the drive and it brings the benefit of the Nissan ProPilot Assist to offer the features and qualities that make it easier to drive on the road. The difference in range between the Leaf and the Bolt might be something you need to consider when you’re shopping.

Tesla Model 3

Right now, of these three models, this is the one of the three that fails to meet some of the criteria expected. So far, Tesla has only managed to build the more expensive Long Range models of this car which costs over $50,000. Those who have been waiting for a long time to purchase the $35,000 model will have to keep on waiting because Tesla isn’t producing them at all yet. Once the cheaper models of the Model 3 are created, it might be good for the makers of the video below to put these three EV choices up against each other once again.

Choose the Right EV for You

If you’re considering the purchase of an EV model, these are the three you’re likely going to consider. Unless you want to stand in a long line with no promise of when the affordable model will arrive, the Tesla Model 3 isn’t going to be an option. This means you’re looking at the second generation of the Nissan Leaf and the new Chevrolet Bolt as the choices you can make. This means you’re going to have to choose between price and range to figure out what’s most important to you. While, each brand does offer a variety of sedans with excellent fuel efficiency, such as the Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu, or the Nissan Sentra and Altima, the Bolt and the Leaf are currently the focus of their respective EV efforts.
