Your next garage build doesn’t have to be a rusty old car that you found at the junkyard. You don’t need to spend hundreds of hours restoring something from a bygone era; instead, you can build a supercar and spend less than $100,000. It might not be a Ferrari or Lamborghini, but this car will absolutely turn some heads.
Factory Five has the kit for you

This kit also includes mounting plates for the engine, transmission, pedals, and other items you’ll need to make a complete car. Without those other items, you’ve essentially got a giant paperweight.
The basic build that comes from Factory Five includes items made of aluminum and composite body panels, sides, and diffusers. The suspension includes KONI shocks and coil-overs with control arms from the Chevy Corvette. Not the current ‘Vette but the C5 version, which is one of the most iconic models from the Corvette lineup. This means a complete Factory Five GTM has many of the same characteristics and qualities as the Chevrolet C5 Corvette.
What do you need to buy in addition to the kit?
The cost of the affordable supercar doesn’t stop at the GTM kit. You’ve got to add the items to make it go unless you think you can Fred Flintstone this thing. You’ll need an engine for your build, and Factory Five suggests the LS6 model along with other parts from the Chevrolet Corvette. In addition to the engine, you’ll also need fuel tanks, a radiator, wheels, tires, and the sensors required to run the engine. It seems much of what you’ll need could come from the C5 Corvette, but Factory Five suggests a Porsche G50 transmission to handle the shift functions.
Once you source all the parts needed to build your Factory Five GTM supercar, the price could be well above $60,000. This might be more than you want to spend for a car you have to assemble, but it’s a lot less than you’ll spend for any vehicle from Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Does the LS6 make the GTM fast?
The stock LS6 engine provides nearly 400 horsepower to this affordable supercar. This might not be a huge number in the European sports car market, but it is more than enough to make sure you’ve got a car that’s fast and fun.
