A new flagship for the Cadillac brand is on the way. This time, the brand is going electric with the Cadillac Celestiq.
You don’t need to run out to the dealership to try and buy one right now, this car isn’t expected to be part of the lineup until the 2025 model year, but it has everything you expect of a flagship sedan from this luxury brand.
Tons of Qualities You’ll Love
All we’ve seen of the Celestiq thus far took place at the 2021 CES trade show. This impressive electric sedan was featured alongside the Lyriq SUV to give you a large sedan with at least 300 miles of driving range on a full charge. This model is poised to bring more technology to the mix and offer you the package you want to enjoy when you’re behind the wheel.
The look inside presented an extra-large cabin with incredible infotainment screens running the width of the dashboard. It may sound like it’s a long way from being offered, but 2025 is coming ever closer and this amazing electric car could be part of the mix.
Could Cadillac Go All-Electric?
It seems as if we only recently saw Cadillac move away from the ATS and CTS sedans to give us the CT4 and CT5 models. Will they make a second transition to pure electric models? The new Cadillac Celestiq could be a car that ushers in this area of driving. To start with, we should expect gasoline and electric models to be sold alongside each other, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibilities for the brand to move to an all-electric lineup.
How Will the Celestiq Stack Up?
We don’t expect to have powertrain details or numbers for a car that’s still three years away, but we do know a few things that are planned for this impressive car. The Celestiq should include all-wheel drive and bring four-wheel steering to the market to give you the ride and control you desire. Acceleration and performance will need to be on par with the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan, two cars that this car will compete with in the market when it arrives.
The fact that this car will have the benefits of AWD and four-wheel steering hits at a pair of electric motors providing the power. Expect to see one motor on each axle giving that set of wheels the power to push this car to where you want to go.
Advanced Battery Technology Expected
GM is using the new Ultium battery technology in several other models, and you should expect this tech to make it to the Cadillac Celestiq as well. The battery could be as large as 100 kWh to give this car the driving range desired. Of course, that might only be the starting point for the battery pack. If Cadillac wants to keep up with the Model S or the Lucid Air sedan, they will need to have a large enough battery to reach more than 517 miles, the quoted range of the Lucid vehicle.
Go Inside for a Wonderful Drive
We expect a lot from Cadillac, and we should. The interior that was shown at the CES trade show would be amazing if it were to make it on the road. As mentioned, the dashboard is one massive digital display to make the Celestiq a technological marvel. There are four bucket seats, a glass roof with four panels, and a large amount of genuine leather, open-pore wood, and metal accents. Without a doubt, this cabin is extremely comfortable and filled with advanced items for you to have a fantastic drive.
More Screens for Your Drive
With four seats of comfort in this car, your passengers can enjoy their own screens for the entertainment during the drive. The model taken to the show featured a large screen in front of each of the two rear passengers to give them their own listening and viewing experience. Do you have family members who would love to get lost in a movie during a road trip?
Expected Safety for the Cadillac Celestiq
We don’t quite know where the technology will be when the 2025 model year arrives, but you can certainly expect to find the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology in the Celestiq when it arrives. This could be part of a full package of safety features or it may be the item that is used to describe these items by that time.
You can bet there will be a lot more coverage of the Cadillac Celestiq as we come closer to the date that feels like it’s far off in the future as the release date for this impressive luxury sedan.
