An ATV You Want to Drive
Argo has been building ATVs for a long time and since 1967 has made amphibian models in Canada. These ATVs are great for handling any type of rough terrain and give you the feeling you can easily make it to just about anywhere you need to. Most of the customers that drive the Argo ATVs have been commercial in nature such as power companies and municipalities that need these amphibious ATVs in order to handle natural disasters that may occur. The LX model was even called into action in New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy struck the area.
When you are an outdoor enthusiast the Argo LX is the ATV you want to drive in order to get from your truck and the limits of reach for your regular vehicle to the reaches that are deeper in the wilderness. Knowing the LX floats is pretty cool, but the first time you take it on water you might be a bit hesitant to let it splash into the water and drive it across a lake, river, stream or creek that would otherwise cause you to be stopped in your tracks with no way of continuing on your chosen course.
The Argo brand keeps things simple in a mechanical sense and the LX offers you something you don’t see on other ATVs, it has eight wheels to give it a great way to paddle across water. Not only is this ATV buoyant but it also happens to be able to ride confidently on mud that’s too soft to walk on. The mechanicals of this ATV keep the suspension, cushion, steering and power all simple. At 1,400 pounds this is one vehicle that makes a great choice for you to drive when you need to get somewhere you normally wouldn’t be able to get to.
When you do enter water and the Argo has to float you will notice the vehicle has the front end lower than the rear. This allows all rows of wheels to help propel the vehicle across the water by putting them at different angles. If the power and speed of the wheels when on water aren’t enough you can even use a tiller motor on the back of the Argo when needed to ensure you can move faster through the water. This is one vehicle that offers you the ability to reach nearly everywhere you can think of.
As for speed, the water mode allows you to move at about four mph. This slow speed means you need to take currents into account when entering the water so you will know you can easily exit from the current. On land you can move at a top speed of 25 mph which is plenty fast, but you do need to be careful of how fast you turn the handlebars so you don’t tip this big beast over. The Argo LX can even go out on the ice and give you some control and if you happen to end up in the water because the ice breaks you would exit to the rear since it’s higher than the front end.
While this vehicle is unique in its ability to reach where you want to go, it’s also uniquely priced. You can have one for $27,295 and have the enjoyment of being able to drop into any body of water and know you will be able to come out on the other side unscathed. The Argo LX is a great choice for the avid outdoorsman who is ready for some amazing adventures in hard to reach locations.
