A New Dune Buggy

Zarooq Motors Sand Racer

The Dune Buggy is a vehicle that we could look at and know exactly what its purpose was.  This vehicle was made for fun in the sands of a large beach or out in the desert.  With good power and a suspension that traveled a great distance in the form of a fully independent suspension a Dune Buggy made light work of just about every other vehicle in the sandbox that dared to step foot on its turf.  While starting with this open air concept vehicle there was a need to harness the Dune Buggy, but only to a point.

We have seen many desert racing vehicles that look like they will tear up the sand with ease.  Now a new name in the form of off road desert performance has emerged; Zarooq Motors.  This is a company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that is responsible for the Lykan Hypersport.  Currently they are preparing to bring us a new vehicle, dubbed the Sand Racer that will be an amazing performer in the world of desert racing and be one of the vehicles that can be enjoyed in a variety of venues to be the right choice of many to cross the vast desert of the area.

This new Sand Racer is expected to produce between 300 and 500 horsepower from the 3.5-liter V6 engine that offers massive turbocharging.  The transmission is to be a six-speed automatic to power the rear wheels, with the option of all four wheels doing the driving.  The suspension is one of the key elements to the success of the Sand Racer as it offers 17-inches of travel to make it perform perfectly on the dunes and throughout the desert region.  This vehicle is set up to be street legal in the UAE which means it can be used for everyday driving as well.

Even though its set to be legal in the UAE does not mean it will be ready for North American or European export right away, but the plans for Zarooq is to be able to export this and other vehicles at some point very soon.  The starting price is said to be near $100,000 which is reasonable considering the power and the namesake it shares a garage with.  There is already plans to enter racing leagues with this vehicle starting in 2016 when it makes its way to the dealerships.

Eventually Zarooq intends to create a four seat Sand Racer with a longer wheel base, currently its only made with two seats inside, to make it more of a family or party vehicle than in its current form.  Zarooq seems confident this SUV will be sold in the numbers they build as a great deal of demand has already been called for on this new SUV.  As a rugged and rough sand loving dune racer this SUV will be one to keep our eyes on and hope Zarooq finds a way to send a few our way to see how much fun we can have with it too.
