The Ford F-150 Lightning Receives the Presidential Stamp of Approval
The preview of the new Ford F-150 Lightning was given more strength with the approval of the current President of the United States.
While we don’t want to see government officials pushing products, the platform of electric driving that is part of what the current administration offers, means that when something new that fits in the mix is offered, the President may show up and give the vehicle a drive.
This Truck has been Highly Anticipated
We’ve been waiting for the new electric version of the Ford F-150 and using the Lightning name is a bit of an enigma. While the name invokes thoughts of electricity, it also reminds us of the gas-guzzling racing truck that bore the name the first time it was used. This truck might be the one that will replace many of the trucks we trust every day.
This Ford is Being Built in Dearborn
Ford continues to revitalize the area around Detroit and has given a strong commitment to the area and making it better for residents of the area. One way they do this is by having more vehicles built in the area. The new Ford F-150 will be built at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center which means more jobs for those that live in the Dearborn area.
A Joke Turned Real for the President
Being President of the United States certainly comes with a few perks. President Biden jokingly said he would love to drive the Ford F-150 Lightning on a track without the Secret Service slowing him down. Ford made it happen at a nearby development center but a Secret Service agent was in the vehicle with the President during the drive. This certainly brought a crowd of Ford employees to see the President take his drive.
The Presidential Address to Ford
As you would expect from any sitting President on a tour of a company, a speech was made. During this speech, President Biden addressed the need for America to catch up with China regarding new technology and EV production. He offered his support to the development of more electric vehicles over the next several years and the fact that he is already working toward changing the government fleet to EV models.
Will The Heartland Adopt the Ford F-150 Lightning?
Many of the farmers, ranchers, and auto workers that make up the Heartland of America use trucks to help them get things done every day. Will these blue-collar workers make use of an electric truck or will this be a Ford F-150 that doesn’t get chosen when they visit dealerships? The Presidential stamp of approval might not mean much to this group, but it could when they see the performance and price.
There’s no doubt that Ford got the coverage and support they desired when President Biden visited their electric vehicle facility and drove the new Ford F-150 Lightning. It will be interesting to see what the sales numbers are for this new truck when it hits the production line.
