A newly designed Chevy Traverse is headed to your Chevrolet dealer in the not-too-distant future, and it has more muscle than ever. But more muscle is just the beginning of this major overhaul, it looks like it will have more tech, upgrades in the cabin, and a new look. Here’s what we know so far about the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse.
Dynamic New Look
The 2024 Traverse has been spied out on the road for testing under very little cover. In spite of the camouflage, the LT trim level seen out and about, has some new features that just can’t be covered up. The front end looks broader than before with a more squared-off design. The front fascia has three grille dividers along the lower intake and then five dividers along the upper intake. The new grille design and slim LED headlights give it a sportier look that’s a lot like the Blazer.
Around the back of the latest Traverse, a rear spoiler extends out from the roof, but Chevrolet left the rear window alone, giving drivers a good view out the back. The Traverse seen out on the road has placeholder lighting on the back, but if you take a closer look, you can see just a hint of the horizontal taillights that should go into production. Again, these are similarly designed to the Blazer’s.
It’s Got New Power
Power for the latest Traverse should come from the same 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine that sits under the hood of the Colorado. It can get up to 310 horsepower. If you like the current V-6, it may still be on the table for the 2024 Traverse. Either way, a nine-speed automatic transmission will come standard, and buyers can choose from front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
What About Inside the Traverse?
Chevrolet hasn’t provided any official peeks inside the new Traverse, but there are some speculations about what will be inside. Since the new Blazer comes standard with a 10.2-inch touchscreen and all models have a wireless version of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it’s not surprising that the 2024 Traverse will have an 11-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android when it hits Chevrolet dealer lots. Other new goodies buyers will get with this update include over-the-air updates, and some semi-autonomous driving aids.
A New Activ Trim?
A new Traverse Activ has been seen out on the roads for testing. This a new model for the Traverse, although it’s been around for other Chevrolet SUVs for several years. The Activ will add some extra rugged touches to make it even more capable of tackling rugged terrain. Even the camouflage couldn’t cover the red tow hooks on the front of this Traverse, and it also has a front skid plate under the bumper. The front bumper has a different design on the Activ to give it a better approach angle for making its way over rocks and other uneven terrains.
