We Love the Outback So Why Not…

What is the Subaru Outback? When you look at it this car is a wagon that has had great off road capabilities that plays in the mainstream market and has been one of the most impressive vehicles on the market today. With this vehicle in mind, Volvo offers us a new vehicle for 2016 that will give us a similar size and capabilities while being offered in the luxury market to be the Outback of the luxury world. This new vehicle is the Volvo S60 Cross Country which we had the pleasure of enjoying on the stand in Detroit at the beginning of the year.

This is not only a new vehicle from Volvo; it’s also the first ever from this automaker to be built in this manner. This new S60 Cross Country has the capability of an SUV while giving you the drivability and size of a sedan and the added space of a wagon so you can have what you need in regards to size, space, driving and versatility to carry what you need where you are headed for the weekend.

Even though this build appears to be a wagon, Volvo has stated it’s not really the wagon version, which will be offered later in the summer for us to have even more space for the cargo. In the meantime, this new Cross Country gives you the look and build you want while coming in with what Volvo is known for; safety. Every new Volvo model has some of the greatest improvements for style and build over the offerings that were previously thought of. To make this car perfect for the drive, every version will have AWD as a standard offering and give you the suspension that raises the riding height by 2.5 inches over the standard model. The grill has been given an updated look and the fenders have a new material to help make this a tough vehicle to drive. Riding a bit higher gives you the opportunity to ride on either eighteen or nineteen-inch wheels that are made to reduce noise and help to keep from being damaged. It seems Volvo thought of everything when designing this new version of the S60.

Under the hood you will have the inline five-cylinder engine that brings you 250 horsepower that is attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. This is what we will see when this car is launched, but other engines and transmissions are expected to be added at later dates to give us a full selection of power and shifting choices to make this an interesting car to drive.
