Toyota Says Two Scoops is What You Need

Toyota Says Two Scoops is What You Need

When you have a pickup truck that already has a hood scoop built into the regular model, how do you make the sportier version more visually impressive? That’s the question that was facing the Toyota team when they were trying to figure out how to style the Toyota Tundra RRD Pro. Even before the TRD team got hold of the truck, it was one that offered an amazing level of style and brashness, which offered a challenge to the TRD team to add something to the truck that would make it stand out as soon as you see it.

A Second Hood Scoop

The base model of the Toyota Tundra has a long slit along the hood that is a hood scoop designed to bring more air into the engine. This large slit along the front makes it appear to be something that was borrowed from the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to give it a racing style. In order to make this area of the truck look even more impressive in the TRD Pro model, the team at Toyota added a second hood scoop above the long slit to make it appear that more air would be able to flow into the engine bay and cool the power plant.

Two Scoops is More Fun

Just looking at the front of the Tundra TRD Pro makes you feel that it’s faster, more powerful, and more impressive than the standard Tundra. This truck is meant to be more fun and certainly is built with a slew of items that give it an upgraded feeling when you take it out for a drive. The question you might have is what that second scoop actually does for the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro to help it have more performance when you drive?

Not Doing Much at All

Don’t be disappointed when you pop the hood on this truck and learn the dirty little secret. The second scoop on the top of the hood of this truck doesn’t have much of a function at all. Sure, it allows more air into the engine bay, but neither of the slits in the hood is connected to an air flow system that can move the air directly from the hood to the engine in order to cool the engine and have the performance that you expect. Even so, this hood does look really cool.

A Fantastic Style

This impressive style offered for the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is certainly something that sets it apart and, as you can see from this article, gives us something to talk about. You don’t often see a truck with one hood scoop slit on the front let along two, but many trucks are coming out with items within others. Apparently, the Toyota designers who created this second hood scoop ate their raisin bran that morning and decided that two scoops of raisins tasted good enough to put two scoops on the front of the Tundra TRD Pro.
