Toyota Gets 3-Year Probation
If you have a problem with one of your vehicles that can cause accidents or even death, you should come clean about it as soon as possible. General Motors is learning that now. Toyota learned it this week.
On top of the $1.2 billion fine that they’re getting over their sudden acceleration issue, they also got handed three-years probation. Safety first truly means better profits when numbers and penalties like this are levied.
According to USA Today:
U.S. District Judge William Pauley III referred to Toyota as having created a “reprehensible picture of corporate misconduct” in the way it handled the cases, the Associated Press reports. Toyota admits it deceived regulators about sticky accelerators and floor mats that can jam under pedals.
