Ford was so excited for us to see what the new 2020 Ford Explorer has to offer that they chose to give us a look at it a few days before the Detroit Auto Show. This new version of the SUV that we’ve admired and enjoyed for several generations gives us more of what we want when it’s time to drive. Not only does this SUV continue to have the drive we love and the spacious cabin that we admire, but this SUV has a high-performance ST model that can give you the power you’re looking for.
Sharing is Caring at Ford
The 2020 Ford Explorer gives us a look at a platform that’s being shared with a vehicle that we saw in November. The 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show gave us a look at the new 2020 Lincoln Aviator which is built on the same platform as the Explorer. The Aviator showed up making use of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that will produce 400 horsepower. This same engine is used in the Explorer ST and it will give us 365 horsepower in the Ford model to offer the power that we’ve grown used to from Ford.
Built the Way We Want
Many of the three-row SUVs in the market are offered with a FWD layout as the standard offering and AWD as the upgraded option that’s possibly what you might want for the drive. When the new 2020 Ford Explorer arrives on the market, it will offer a completely different setup. This SUV will be set up on a RWD platform for you to have the drive that feels more like a sports car or luxury vehicle. The option for the Explorer will be to have AWD to give you more confidence and control when the foul weather arrives.
Another Ford will Show Off in Detroit
The new Ford Explorer isn’t the only new Ford that will make it to the stage in Detroit for the North American International Auto Show. The Ford team is ready to show us a new Mustang GT500 as well. This new pony car will make over 700 horsepower which comes out of the supercharged V8 engine that’s under the hood. This will allow the Mustang to offer more power than the top model of the Chevrolet Camaro and nearly as much as the Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
Look for More News
As we get to take a deeper look at the new 2020 Ford Explorer and we learn more about what this amazing SUV can offer us, we will let you know what you can enjoy from the SUV you’ve known and loved for many years. The Detroit Auto Show is sure to be a hot event in a cold city and a great way for us to learn about the new models that we can admire from a variety of companies from around the world. The new Explorer is a great step forward for Ford as they embrace a lineup filled with SUVs.
