Subaru WRX in Luxury Form

2016 Blue Subaru WRX

When you think of the WRX what comes to mind?  Do you think of the open port in the hood for airflow, do you think about a sedan that looks nondescript but offers a massive amount of performance, do you think of the standard AWD that is found on most Subaru models?  While all these are certainly true there is typically no thought whatsoever of luxury that can be found on this car, but there is a model of the WRX that has been developed to offer luxurious features and an interior that is comfortable and quiet so you can fully enjoy the drive.

The version of the WRX STI is called the SporVita, whether Subaru thought about it before naming it after a drink bottle container or not is unknown but is a bit of a coincidence.  This model will offer you a gorgeous two-toned leather interior with beautiful stitching and attractive accents to ensure you can have a comfortable ride.  This model also features more sound deadening materials than any other WRX STI on the market to help keep the road noises to a minimum and offer you a quiet ride where you can focus on the drive or listen to the musical selections of your choosing.

To add to the luxury look the SporVita will feature wheels that are finished in satin silver instead of the brutish gunmetal that normally sits in the wheel well of this car.  Of course the engine is still the brute as its tuned to bring in close to 300 horsepower from the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.  The only transmission put inside this model is the CVT because this luxury version will come equipped with EyeSight and that is only offered when the CVT is in place, but Subaru does a masterful job of giving their transmissions more for the money so the CVT will be great in this car.

TO make the name a little more palatable Subaru calls the SporVita the S4, which is much better.  From the outside you would think of it as a typical WRX, not that there is much that is typical about the WRX, but once inside you are treated to the luxury you might look for from a BMW 3-Series, which offers a great blend of the mainstream performance with a luxury cabin to make a car that certainly is well worth your attention and driving.

Now, here is the kicker, this car will not be available in the US.  Apparently someone at Subaru thinks only the Japanese buyers are interested in luxury and comfort and has decided to only release this car in Japan for the time being.  Most likely this is to have a local test market in case this car is a bust, but who wouldn’t want a WRX that offers luxury?  Other than the name (which I still can’t get over) this car is a great blend of what we want in a car; when it’s time to bring this beauty to our shores I will be one of the first in line to buy this exciting offering.
