Shedding pounds and gaining power in the Silverado

The pickup truck market is one of the most competitive we have and every automaker in the arena has to work hard to keep up with the rest of the competition in order to offer us what we want when it’s time to get work done. In recent years, what we’ve looked for is more power, more efficiency, and lighter materials being used. This creates a challenge that truck makers have to step up to and the team at Chevrolet has certainly done this with the 2019 version of the Silverado that will be offered.


In order to give us more of what we want with the new Silverado, Chevrolet has added a new diesel offering and taken out a lot of weight to ensure we will have more of what we’re looking for. The new engine is a diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder Duramax model that will make use of the ten-speed automatic transmission to give us the power we want. In addition to this incredible power offering, nearly 450 pounds has been taken out of this truck with the use of aluminum in the hood, doors, and rear liftgate to make it much lighter and more agile on the road.

More Savings and More of What You Want

Chevrolet didn’t stop with the hood, doors, and rear liftgate; they also reduced the amount of wasted space between the inside and outside walls of the truck bed. This allows an increase of nearly twenty percent of cargo space to the bed to give it 63 cubic feet of volume for your use. There are now twelve tie-down points, new truck bed task lighting, a 120-volt outlet in the bed, and a larger CornerStep bumper cutout to give you the most functional bed offered by Chevrolet.
Inside the cabin, the Chevrolet Silverado now offers an additional three-inches of legroom for the rear seat, new ten-liter storage bins that have been integrated into the rear seats, a 24-liter storage tray under the second row, the inclusion of 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto to make sure you can connect and enjoy the drive in the new Silverado that you’ll buy and put to work for you when it’s time to have a great drive on the roads around the area that you work on a daily basis.

A Trim for Every Trucker

The trim levels offered for the new Silverado have also changed to give us Work Truck as the base model, LT in the middle, and LTZ at the top. In between each of these trims is a Custom Trailboss offering with RST fitting in between LT and LTZ. Above the LTZ resides the High Country model which is the luxury model of the Silverado you can drive. Every Trailboss model includes the Z71 package along with locking rear differentials, front and rear skid plates, 18-inch wheels, and a two-inch lift for the body. This truck will be offered later this year and it could easily be the right one for you to have the drive you’re looking for to get work done.
