Is Ford working to differentiate its electric truck from the venerable F-150? A recent Ford trademark filing shows that could be the case.

Ford filed a trademark last month protecting the name F-200, which could be the next version of the brand’s all-electric truck. The latest new electric truck is codenamed Project T3, and it’s set to be shown in 2025 and built at the Tennessee facility. The goal with this new electric truck is to create a pickup that’s much different from what’s already in the market, which is the Ford F-150 Lightning. This new model could be the future of Ford trucks and bring the brand into the digital age.

The Ford execs might have seen this and thought it was time to catch up and keep up. Jim Farley, Ford CEO, expects the new Ford electric truck to be “different” than any other truck on the market while acting like one. This new pickup should include the latest software, an amazing mixture of features, and tech that will make the experience better than ever.

The T3 brings power for the big jobs

It’s nearly time for the F-150 Lightning to enter a new generation, and the new Project T3 could be that generation. The new Ford trademark filing signals a larger pickup with the F-200 name, while the T3 part of the name stands for Trust the Truck. One of the most remarkable features of this new pickup is the ability to export power from the high-voltage battery through the Pro Power Onboard system. The current F-150 Lightning provides up to 9.6-kW of power through the 11 outlets, and the new F-200 is expected to improve on this.

The standard battery delivers 452 horsepower, 775 lb-ft of torque, and 7,700 pounds of towing, while the extended-range batter gives you 580 horsepower, 775 lb-ft of torque, and up to 10,000 pounds of towing.
