Never has there been a car that was such a small and economical version that garnered so much attention. There’s more than one reason this car gains the attention it receives though, not only is it well deserved but the Civic is a car that has been capturing our attention and desire for over forty years. Now that Honda has given us a new Civic sedan to be excited about the next item on our checklist is a fantastic new hatchback that is made to provide us with the exceptional performance and looks that we’ve come to expect.
Thankfully that item was also on the checklist for Honda. The new Civic hatchback made a debut in concept form at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and now the production model is ready to be shown off for us to love. There are already photos of the new Honda Civic hatchback that have made their way to the market to show off a car that features a slick rear that curves smartly from the roof. This look is a bit toned down from the concept version that was presented in Geneva, but that was expected. Thankfully there aren’t any major design changes.
The new Civic hatchback is making its way to our shores for us to begin falling in love with this car all over again. With this new hatchback on its way you can expect we’ll see a new Si and Type R models which will be much more aggressive than the previous version. If this takes place you can be certain the Civic will reclaim its place in the marketplace as one of the most desirable small sports cars on the market, making it popular with all types of drivers.
Speaking of the new Type R, this new version will make its way to the 2016 Paris Motor Show in September for us to have a look at what it will be. There’s no doubt Honda wants to reclaim its title as the fastest front-wheel drive vehicle to make it way around the Nurburgring test track. Currently that title belongs to Volkswagen, but with a FWD Civic Type R that boasts 340 horsepower there’s a better than average chance that Honda will be able to reclaim this title and begin leading the way once again when it comes to the hot hatch.
As for the actual production Civic hatchback that’s already been seen loading up on a cargo ship on its way to the US, it looks like we’ll be ready to receive this awesome new small car on our shores. This is a car that we’ve been waiting for and I look forward to reviewing how well this new model sold after its first full year of this new generation Honda Civic Hatchback. Like I said, there’s never been so much excitement over something of this nature before. Honda has certainly put in the features and style we want; now it just needs to get here so we can start buying them.
