Saving the planet is an important task, but we have to do so in a responsible way, right? Not always, you can have it all. That means you can have an amazing sports car and have it be friendly for the environment. This may sound difficult to believe because you’ve always associated eco-friendly vehicles with the likes of small, puttering along cars that are built from plants and fed electricity to power the ride. This is no longer the only way you have to enjoy driving on the roads and tracks, there is a new way.
Genovation built a car not too long ago that was able to provide us with the amazing power that can be put in a car that’s power by electricity to give the ride we’ve always dreamed of. Genovation is the Maryland based company that built an all-electric C6 Corvette that was capable of reaching speeds as high as 200 mph. That’s insanely fast and with the fact that this is a zero emissions vehicle the owner of the car could easily be able to give a ride in the fastest electric car on the market, but the folks at Genovation didn’t choose to make the C6 be a production car.
Now that the Corvette has entered it C7 phase the plans have changed and Genovation is at it again. You can have a new C7 electric Corvette which has now been called the GXE, with a massive 660 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque form the powertrain. This ‘Vette will use a 44 kWh battery that can make the car run up to 205 mph with an impressive 130 mile range. This car is expected to have a 50/50 weight distribution to give you a low center of gravity and be able to corner and drive just like a Corvette is supposed to.
It wouldn’t be that exciting to learn that Genovation has this car planned unless it was planned for production. The C7 GXE will actually go into production and be built to the tune of about 75 units as a limited run. While this does seem to be a low number of vehicles for this model, the fact is the cost for this new Corvette will be about $750,000. That is 1.5 times the amount you would pay for a Lamborghini Aventador SV and the car you receive is a Corvette.
Not only do you have to pay this steep price to purchase the electric C7 Corvette, but you have to put a deposit on one if you plan to make this your car. The deposit is $250,000, so you better be serious before you choose to buy this Corvette. Most likely the customer base that will purchase this car will be those with the money to add this Corvette to their collection.
The idea of having a car that’s electrically power and can give you the amazing ride of a Corvette is something to certainly marvel at. The folks at Genovation are making it easier for you to be eco-friendly and have a powerful sports car for your drive.
