The Land Cruiser is one of the most well-known and longest-running of Toyota’s nameplates, but it’s been absent in America for a few years since its redesign in 2022. However, it’s coming back starting with the 2024 model year and continuing with the 2025 model year. The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser is smaller and a bit cheaper than before.
Remix of Old and New
When the Land Cruiser was reintroduced for the American market last year, it was obvious that Toyota would go in a different direction than before. The full-size J300 is off the table, mainly due to its price, low sales numbers, and the fact that it’s nearly identical to the Lexus LX, which is already sold in America. Instead, Toyota chose to make the new American Land Cruiser smaller, narrower, and a bit more affordable. It slots in above the 4Runner and below the full-size, three-row Sequoia. The new Land Cruiser is more accurately grouped with other adventure vehicles like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler.
Hybrid Powertrain Maximizes Efficiency and Power
The i-Force Max hybrid powertrain is a standard feature on all Land Cruiser models. This innovative and efficient powertrain combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with a small electric motor that delivers a total output of 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. This efficient, yet powerful, setup delivers the power you need for off-road adventures and plenty of economy for everyday driving.
Off-Road Icon
The Toyota Land Cruiser has a reputation for being an off-road icon, and the new model enhances that even further. It includes full-time 4WD, an electronic locking rear differential, and a front stabilizer bar disconnect system as standard equipment. Complementing the mechanics of off-roading are two modern tech features in Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control. With this stable of modern off-roading equipment, you can confidently navigate obstacles and rugged terrain with the Toyota Land Cruiser.
No Compromise On Interior Comfort
The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser doesn’t compromise on comfort or modern tech on the inside either. Basic trims come with black fabric seats and an 8-inch touchscreen, but higher trims feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen and heated/ventilated seats. All Land Cruiser models include wireless connectivity for Apple and Android, plus over-the-air updates.
Choose From a Range of Trims and Prices
The base 1958 model of the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser will start for just under $58,000. This might not seem like quite the affordability some expected, but it comes with a long list of standard features. It’s the only trim other than the limited First Edition that comes with the retro-style round LED headlights. It also comes with a Toyota heritage grille, full-time 4WD, and the standard off-road and connectivity features mentioned earlier.
Ultimately, the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser is an attractive throwback model that is meant to compete with similar adventure vehicles. Those who want something more like the large Land Cruiser from previous years will have to look at its Lexus sibling or the Toyota Sequoia.
