Mercedes-Benz CLS: Smooth Elegance with Aggression

For just over a decade we’ve had the pleasure of a new car style on the market that’s called the four-door coupe. This body style arrived with the Mercedes-Benz CLS that showed up in 2005 and is currently in its second generation. Recently, the 2019 model has been seen and will be the model that will mark the third generation of a car that was once thought to be a body that we wouldn’t want to drive. With this success, this car has been one that brings us the smooth and sophisticated feeling we’ve admired for many years.

This new version of the CLS that’s been shown allows us to see that it will offer the four doors we expect and a more aggressive style while maintaining the proportions that have made this a successful car for the drive. The sloping roofline and amazing style are going to continue to be shown and the new design language that Mercedes-Benz has come up with will be a heavy influence over this car and what future models from this brand will be able to offer for the future of the entire brand with the designs we’re sure to admire.

Some New Items

As we take a look at what the third generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLS will bring us, the power you can have will come from a new six-cylinder engine. This inline configuration hasn’t been part of what Mercedes-Benz has offered for several years. When we see this car show up for the 2019 model year there will be two variations offered which are the CLS450 and CLS450 4Matic. There is expected to be an AMG model that will arrive sometime after this car makes its debut on the market for us to drive.

The 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine will bring us 362 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine will be aided by a new48-volt electric starter that gives the car 21 horsepower and 84 lb.-ft. of torque for short bursts of added boost. This is a car that can reach sixty mph in 4.8 seconds and makes it one that can be an excellent choice for you when you’re looking for a car that is unique, sleek, and sophisticated. This is an engine that Mercedes-Benz expects to be able to use in other models in the future to be an exciting power plant.

Getting Inside

Another first for the Mercedes-Benz CLS is the fact this car will now seat five people by offering a rear bench seat. This seat splits in a 40/20/40 fashion to give you the seating needed for the ride. You’ll also be able to enjoy the adaptive air suspension and the tech you want including wireless phone charging, a widescreen infotainment system, a digital gauge cluster, massaging seats, ambient lighting, and NFC pairing compatibility. The driver assistance features you expect to find in a car of this caliber are present to make sure you can have the safety you want on the road.

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS is expected to be on the market starting in the fall of 2018 to be part of the 2019 model year. Until that time, we’ll learn more about this car.
