Kia Should Embrace the New Badge and the Future

Kia Should Embrace the New Badge and the Future

So much has changed about Kia over the years, but one thing that hasn’t changed has been the badge but that is about to change as well.

When Kia came to the US in 1994, there was only one small car offered and it was the Sephia economy car. Even as this brand grew through its first decade in the US, we looked at the Kia brand as the bargain basement brand that offered cheap cars that we could all afford. This first offering and the growth of the brand made it possible for what we see from this brand today.

Imagine a New Look from Kia

A new badge styling showed up in Geneva on the new “Imagine by Kia” Concept car that was both a serious nod to the future and a humorous jab at our need for more technology and more screen in the cabin. This new badge styling is more attractive, sporty, and elegant than the current badge from this brand, which means it might be time for a change. This simple change would certainly usher in the continuation of the new Kia lineup and what we get to enjoy from a brand that at one time gave us only the Sephia.

More Luxury Needs to Start with the Kia Badge

Today, the Kia brand offers us a variety of amazing vehicles to drive. The Optima is considered the most attractive midsize sedan, the Rio is a smaller version of the Optima, and the lineup of SUVs can please just about every driver. In addition to the names we’ve known for a while, Kia recently gave us the Stinger, which is busy taking down some of the most luxurious names in the industry, and we’re going to have the new Telluride SUV soon, which will offer luxury and size that we need for our family. These upgraded models and impressive vehicles are certainly worthy of a new badge style.

Comparing the Kia Badges

The current badge we see for Kia is an oval with the KIA letters spelled out in block script that doesn’t show much imagination at all. This badge appears to have been created to be able to be attached to any vehicle in an effort to keep production affordable. While this was a sensible choice initially, the new badge on the Imagine Concept car is what we want to see. This badge was blended into the front and rear of the car with a script that reminds us of the cool NASA lettering and no oval surrounding the lettering.

The Name Remains

While most brands don’t change their logo or badges very often and will take a long time to consider any change at all, the fact that the name of the brand is used in the badge will make it possible for us to continue to know the vehicle belongs to Kia. This badge is simple in its current form, but the newest lineup of vehicles offered by Kia.
