Hyundai Goes Bigger

The Los Angeles Auto Show is where we received a full reveal of the new Hyundai Palisade which will arrive for the 2020 model year. This big SUV is one that shows that Hyundai is paying attention to what we want to drive in the US when it’s time for the ride on a daily basis. With three rows of seats, a big platform, and the qualities we love, the Palisade will replace the Santa Fe XL as the largest vehicle in the lineup from Hyundai when it arrives and gives us the family-sized SUV that we want.

The Size that Matters in the Palisade

The new Hyundai Palisade will be the largest in the lineup from Hyundai when it arrives. It will be considered a midsize SUV, and will be put in the class with the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, and Subaru Ascent to name a few. This model is one that’s created to attract those who would have driven the Santa Fe XL but want something larger. This SUV is big enough to offer a true eight-seat configuration and allow you to have the option to have seven seats with a pair of captain’s chairs in the second row.

Giving More Power for the Palisade

As the largest vehicle in the lineup for the Hyundai brand, the Palisade will need to have more power to move the heft around on the road. To make this happen, the team has added a 3.8-liter V6 engine to the mix. This engine uses the Atkinson cycle and it makes 291 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque for the ride you need. Attached to this brute will be an eight-speed automatic transmission to make the shifting and the driving easier for you. The standard layout will be FWD but AWD will be offered as well.

Gaining Features in the Cabin

Because the cabin of the Palisade is large and offers more space than ever before, Hyundai has added more features to make sure you can have everything you’re looking for. There’s a 10.25-inch wide format touchscreen on top of the dashboard, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster that’s digital, and the ability to connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time. You’ll also find a slew of active and passive safety features to make sure you can stay where you need to on the road along with several comfort items including a lot of cupholders for the drinks the family will take along.

The Palisade is Coming Next Summer

The new 2020 Hyundai Palisade will be offered on the market starting in the summer of 2019.
