When you look at cars that come in as affordable typically you expect the car to be one that is poorly designed, offers cheap materials and shows up with little to no power and certainly no acceleration at all. Hyundai has been on a mission to change that thought process and gives us a new Elantra for 2017 that is beautifully sculpted with some of the most attractive lines and plenty of gorgeous materials inside the interior to give you the look and feel you want to enjoy. Let’s take a look at what the new Elantra will bring for the next model year.
One problem some people have with these smaller cars is fitting in the driver’s seat. While truck offer a pedal adjustment to accommodate shorter drivers, these small cars often don’t have the luxury of creating more space for taller drivers. The Elantra has a wide array of seating positions to make this a car that is comfortable for anyone regardless of height, which is great in a car that is small in stature. Along with the right size to give you the space you need to drive the interior of the new Elantra offers some great new surfaces and looks which include piano black plastic pieces and brushed aluminum along with a smattering of chrome to offer an enticing interior.
Now when you consider the engine you might feel like I have led you astray as it’s only a 2.0-liter four-cylinder version that brings you 147 horsepower. The advantage for the Elantra is the fact it only weighs in at 2,976 pounds which means it doesn’t need a great deal of power to get it going quickly at all. While you won’t have Miata quickness you will feel a good pull when you hit the gas pedal. If you still want more power, the Sport version will be released at SEMA at the end of this year to show you what you want. As it is now, the Elantra will give you a fuel mileage of between 29 and 33 mpg depending upon the trim you choose.
While most that purchase cars in this class look for the fuel mileage, when you want some performance to have some fun as well Hyundai has made it possible with the new Elantra. This car stays planted when you take a twisting road at speeds, which makes it easier for you to challenge your driving expertise and see exactly what your car can do. You want a confident car to drive and the Elantra is the car to give you that confidence to be able to hug the curves and stick the pedal on the floor.
Hyundai has been a company that fills its cars with outstanding features for you to enjoy so we don’t need to cover that part. Let me just say, other companies will quickly need to get on board with what Hyundai is offering on the Elantra, otherwise this new for 2017 model will quickly leave them in the dust.
