The Drive You Wanted as Kid

12.05.16 - Fisher-Price Ford Mustang

Fisher-Price has been making toys for us for many years and one of the most popular toys every holiday season is the Power Wheels vehicles that are offered. These vehicles fly off the shelves and offer kids the chance to have lots of fun from behind the wheel. In fact, kids aren’t always the only ones getting in on the act of driving in these little cars, some adults have been spotted enjoying the fun of a great Power Wheels vehicle, and Ford and Fisher-Price have come together once again to create great gifts for kids this year.

The car that was used this time is the Ford Mustang and it’s being offered in either blue or pink and has a realistic looking design to be one of the most impressive looking Power Wheels models we’ve seen yet. This car is perfect for kids to have a lot of fun and allows them to imagine they’re driving around in their own Ford Mustang GT that can head to the finish line to capture the checkered flag. This makes it easier for kids to have a lot of fun in their own version of the Mustang their parents own and drive.

While we’ve been used to the Power Wheels vehicles being plastic and stickers with a small electric motor, this year the new design is offered with the Smart Drive system. This is the first computer controlled powertrain for a Power Wheels vehicle and it gives the car traction control, stability monitoring, a digital speed control, battery monitoring and a slow start and stop feature. This certainly puts this toy car miles ahead of any Power Wheels vehicle that was around when I was a kid and gives kids even more fun from in the vehicle.

Amazingly this car can monitor for wheels slip and adjust the motor speeds to give the car the stability needed where it’s required the most. This will be most helpful on wet grass or bumpy roads. The tilt sensor detects when a car is about to reach a dangerous angle and turns off the motor to help prevent actual rollovers which makes it safer for the child to reach higher speeds. Parents are also able to control the speed of these Mustangs with a speed that ranges from 1 to 5 mph to help keep kids safe on their makeshift road.

As we’ve seen in recent years, the Mustang will also feature a sound system that as some realistic engine sounds and the ability to play music while using a large speaker. Kids can even hook up a smartphone with an auxiliary jack that’s inside the dashboard of this vehicle. This is sure to be a huge hit this year and is the vehicle you want to have your kids riding around in. You’ll be able to begin purchase of this Power Wheels Smart Drive Mustang starting in December and the price should be around $359.99 for you to make the holidays special for those little people in your life this year.
