Don’t You Wish Your Car Could do This?
What’s better than a high priced sports car that resembles one of the most acclaimed names in the industry? Being able to take that car and go through a lake or river with it because it actually has the ability to not only drive on the road but to float like a boat. We love a vehicle that is versatile and there is one such vehicle on the market which is up for sale. This car/boat combination doesn’t look abhorrently bad, in fact it perfectly resembles a Lamborghini Countach which makes it a vehicle we really want to climb in and drive.
The vehicle is listed on eBay for around $27,000 which makes it feel like a steal and it’s a replica that was built on a tube chassis but it is the first amphibious vehicle of its kind. The actual creator of this vehicle sated “the build cost was horrendous” and claims the details you would expect in a Countach are perfect down to the panel gaps and door operation. This is a Lamborghini you would truly want to drive and then take out for a short fishing trip, but I think we need to know if it really can be a fishing vessel.
This is a vehicle that was built by Mike Ryan who is the founder of SeaRoader Amphibious Vehicles in England. This was built originally for the BBC version of Top Gear and he stated it was a “nightmare to build, but the results were worth it”. There isn’t much this amphibious Countach won’t do as it does have a hydraulic setup to compress the suspension and pull the wheels into the wheel wells for travel on water. This is a car you might even say James Bond would enjoy as it has a smoke screen button as well.
What this odd car has been through is pretty amazing as it was shipped to the US and used in Hollywood. When it was shipped here it was changed to left-hand driving but once done with its Hollywood time it was shipped back to the UK and converted back into a right-hand driving vehicle. As with any car, it needs to have been used over time, but for the past fifteen years the car has been sitting and not used for amphibious assaults or even just pleasure cruising on or off the water.
There are some things that need to be done to the car, which may explain the low asking price. It does need the fuel system, tire and brakes worked on and the interior carpeting and seats have gone missing, but those could easily be replaced. Imagine driving up to a lake or river in this thing and continuing the drive right out onto the water; it’s absurd. Not only is it absurd to think you could do that, it’s almost inhuman to think you could pass something like this up. Someone needs to take this car and return it to its former glory, will that person be you?
