Determination in the Form of a Car
Custom car builders are found all over the world and with the advancements in reality television, show up on our TV screens on a regular basis as well. We can watch in amazement while they spend four to six months on average taking a car from a thought to a reality. This process involves finding the right shell and deciding what is going to go into the car and make amazing. In most cases the final result is unbelievable and shows us just what can be done with a car when someone has a vision and decides what they want to do.
This theme and thought showed up this year at the Paris Auto Show in a very rare form and certainly under an extraordinarily unexpected timeframe. In Pavilion #4 stood a car that had many stopping to stare and see either what the car was all about, how long it took to build or to read the biographies of the builders themselves. This car was the Sbarro Eight concept car which was built to look like a retro-style muscle machine from the 1940s and offer a fascinating amount of technology on top of the overall look of the car.
Stepping up to the car it becomes apparent it was built on the platform of a 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe, with a great deal of updated and upgraded modifications. While it retained the front open wheel look expected of this model this brawler looks mean and ready for action with its large rear wheels, angled and chopped rooflines and forward angled look that gives it the appearance of a car that is ready to take on all challengers and win with ease; and win it would as the look at the side of the hood shows the Maserati V8 that is peeking out from underneath.
Once inside the car the amazement is of the detail that was put into this fantastic machine. There are finished and varnished wood elements all over the interior as well as offing a huge touchpad control for the car that brings in all the technology that could be needed to drive this car at breakneck speeds. The seats are even covered in leather and well-padded to give a comfortable feeling when riding down the road. Add the USB charging ports and Bluetooth technology and this car is one that rivals some of the production models on the road.
What hasn’t been mentioned, and may be the most important part of this car is the team that built it. This car was entirely built by students at the Espera Sbarro Montbeliard School of Design and it didn’t take them four to six months to complete, they finished this task from start to finish in under eight weeks. With all the advanced details aboard, it’s simply amazing they were able to complete this task so quickly and still pay attention to all the finer details. The Sbarro Eight stands as a testament to what can be done when someone or a team puts their minds to it; giving them the chance to showcase the fruits of their labor.
