When heads of state need to move around in the DC area, they love to turn to the Cadillac Escalade ESV for the ride.
This big, long, luxurious SUV has become the premier choice of dignitaries that want a ride to the airport, need to get to their next meeting, or want to head out to the countryside for a weekend getaway. While this is an SUV you could buy as well, what makes many of the models special in the Washington, DC area is the fact that these big SUVs are packed with the armor that makes them bulletproof and the ideal vehicle to protect the VIPs they carry.
A Change for the Escalade
Over the next couple of years, we might not see any new models of the Escalade ESV with armor plating being made. A new version of the Cadillac SUV that we love and admire is being created that could shake things up and meet the Presidential guideline of being an electric vehicle. This big brute will arrive in the 2025 model year as an electric vehicle, which allows us to ask the question of whether or not the longer version will also be electrified.
How Will the Electric Model be Presented?
Currently, we don’t know whether or not the Cadillac Escalade ESV will be electrified, but when the new electric version of the standard length version of this SUV arrives, it will not be alone. The 2025 model year will give us the EV version as an option, with the gasoline models still being sold right alongside it. That means you could drive whichever model of the Escalade you want unless this brand doesn’t electrify the longer version. That is something we will have to wait to learn whether it will be part o the plan or not.
An Altered Design Might Show Up
When the Escalade EV arrives, it could look much like the concept model that has been shown, which gives us a look that’s a bit different. This new model shows up with a windshield that is more steeply raked and a body that isn’t quite as boxy as the gasoline version. If this is the build that makes it to dealerships in the 2025 model year, we could easily see something extremely different from this big brute than what we’ve had in the past. The new style could be a big part of your decision when you’re shopping for your next large luxury SUV.
Ultium Battery Technology for the Escalade EV
As you would expect, the electrified Cadillac Escalade will use the new electric architecture that GM has developed for other EV models. This Ultium battery technology gives this vehicle a large package that could bring as much as 200-kWh to the drive. This battery size is double the largest pack found in the long-range Tesla Model X. We could see as much as 1000 horsepower coming from a three-motor setup that drives both axles and offers full-time AWD in the electrified Escalade.
What is the Escalade Stretch Vehicle?
Even though you’ve seen these big Caddy’s driving around on the DC streets with state leaders in the rear seat, you might not know what this big vehicle has to offer. While you can’t find an armored one for your personal driving experience, you can enjoy the size, power, and capability offered. The Cadillac Escalade ESV is the biggest SUV offered by this brand. If you think of the Chevrolet Suburban, you’ll be in the ballpark when it comes to size.
Much More Cargo Volume
In its standard form, the Escalade offers 25.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats. While this is substantial for a three-row SUV, the ESV model gives you more. You’ll find 49.2 cubic feet behind that third row, making it easier for you to carry a large among of gear and fill all eight seats with passengers.
Of course, cargo volume isn’t all you’ll find and enjoy in this big luxury SUV. You’ll admire the impressive luxury qualities found in every corner of the vehicle. Whether you admire the three-zone climate controls, the impressive touchscreens for infotainment and instrumentation, or the posh seating that brings you a luxury level of comfort, you’ll be extremely pleased with everything this SUV has to offer.
Special Items to Make Your Experience Better
If you’re shopping for one of the latest versions of the Cadillac Escalade ESV, you’ll be amazed by the large OLED infotainment screen. This screen is actually three in one with 38 inches of diagonal size across the display area. This gives you a screen for your instruments, one for infotainment, and one for your front passenger to enjoy. Currently, this is the largest screen of its kind in the automotive world.
Going Diesel Before Going Electric
Although we still don’t know whether or not the Cadillac Escalade ESV is going to be offered as an electric SUV, we do know that you can choose the diesel powertrain that has become part of what the Cadillac Escalade family offers. This engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel six-cylinder engine that makes 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. With this engine under the hood, you’ll have 21 city/27 hwy mpg in RWD models and 20 city/26 hwy mpg when you opt for 4WD. This powertrain gives you plenty of power for every drive to where you want to go.
