The Mercedes EQS sedan is the flagship Mercedes EV, and it’s as plush and opulent as you would expect from a Mercedes. It uses one electric motor that can get up to 516 horsepower and can travel up to 350 miles on a full charge.

Tech lovers will appreciate all the features in the cabin, including the three screens that stretch across the dashboard. The MBUX infotainment system runs on the 17.7-inch central touchscreen, and there’s also a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger.

Is the Future of EV Charging Going Standard?

One of the issues facing EV drivers is not just finding a charging station, but finding one that is compatible with their vehicle. Since charging stations are owned by different companies, EV drivers have to find the right station or find an adaptor.

But things should get easier in the near future. The federal government has established a fund to help build a better charging infrastructure, but this is not all. Tesla is also helping to make it easier by opening up its charging connector. The renamed NACS port is now standardized, and many automakers have signed on. If you buy the new electric Mercedes car, you can use what used to be the Tesla charging stations to charge back up when you’re on the road.

Mercedes-Benz and Starbucks want to make it easier to charge up as long as you drive along the west coast. Mercedes is installing fast electric chargers at 100 Starbucks locations along Interstate 5. This means that if you’re traveling north or south from Canada to Mexico or back up, you can get the charge you need while you go in to have a cup of coffee.

This is just the beginning of the partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Starbucks. Mercedes has a billion-dollar plan to build 2,000 charging stations around the world. And since it’s Mercedes, these stations will not be your average rest stops. They will have a plush waiting area and thanks to ChargePoint, 400kW charging speeds.
