The Nissan Rogue that has been updated and improved for 2017 showed off its wares in Miami and gave us a look at an SUV that’s going to be admired for its style and beloved for its comfort inside. This is an SUV that gives you more of what you want to enjoy in your SUV and can even save you money as you ride. One of the places many SUV’s don’t add to your benefit of driving is adding better fuel mileage and make the claim that the utility you enjoy is what you want and need on the road.
The new Rogue is taking things in another direction entirely. This SUV now offers a great hybrid powertrain that will give you the powertrain you want which is more efficient than what you expect to enjoy on the SUV market. The expected fuel mileage of the new hybrid version of the Rogue show up at 33 city/35 hwy mpg to give you the efficiency that you want and even using AWD will keep you above 30 mpg in all driving conditions to give you an efficient and enjoyable new Rogue to drive as you pass by the gas stations along your regular route.
Under the hood, most of the power for this SUV will come from the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 141 horsepower and 144 lb.-ft. of torque. If this was the entirety of the powertrain we’d be discussing how Nissan missed with this SUV instead of admiring it, but that’s not the entire story with this powertrain. To aid in the power and performance there is a 30 kW electric motor that improves the power to a full 176 horsepower, which is more than what you would enjoy on the non-hybrid model of this vehicle.
Using two clutches to help return power to the motor and store that electric power needed, there is an Xtronic CVT that’s found under the hood. In order to avoid the vibrations that come from a system such as this the hybrid Rogue uses three mounts with one of them being liquid filled and electronically controlled to give you the smooth feel of the ride from this SUV. This makes it much easier for you to enjoy driving an SUV that’s made to be more efficient regarding the burning of gas with the electric assistance of a hybrid powertrain.
The hybrid version of the Nissan Rogue benefits from all the same style cues and comfort improvements of the standard Rogue model to become a great small crossover SUV that will be offered on the market for us to drive and enjoy the power and fuel mileage. The only drawback to this new hybrid version of the Rogue is being a resident of Canada, where this version won’t be sold. Otherwise, the rest of us can enjoy driving a newly designed SUV that’s more efficient and enjoyable than it’s ever been in the new Nissan Rogue hybrid that will be on the market for the 2017 model year.
