A Car made into a Helicopter

It seems, at least from a concept standpoint, the world is getting ever closer to actually making a flying car. With the advancements in having lighter body panels than ever before and pulling even more power from smaller engines we are closer than ever to lifting off the ground. This should be no surprise, and there already are some that can fly, but now one is being introduced that can turn into a quadcopter and take off. This car is the Renault Kwid, which was introduced at the New Delhi car convention last year.

The Kwid, is a concept car that is about the same size as a smart car with a futuristic and cartoon like design. To look at the Kwid you might think someone was joking with its funny front end that is highly rounded and features lights and an emblem that resemble a face. The large puffed-up wheels look like they are four arms crawling along the road at an amusing pace. Opening the doors in a wing style and roof panels that create the quad copter appearance, the Kwid is unique and amazing in its look and style, not appearing like any other vehicle on the road.

Inside the Kwid, even though it’s a concept car, there are a ton of great features inside a futuristic design of the cockpit. The seats are covered in wide bands that appear almost as if they belong in the cockpit of a helicopter and the steering wheel and dashboard have an integrated wood and gray inlay design that looks dynamic and attractive. Currently, there are no other cars that look like the Kwid at all, which is probably a really good thing as this is a concept that might have a very niche following only.

The flying features of the car are built into the roof and are based on a GPS concept. This GPS system is takes the car to specific coordinates on a map to make it so the driver doesn’t have to take control of the flight part of the car. When the car is on the road it is able to be driven easily on the road with confidence and ease. Driving the Kwid down the road will look amusing to other drivers, but will give anyone who is driving the car the feeling of a great ride that has seriously advanced technology.

Even though the Renault Kwid is not ready for production, it may not be too far off. The thought of being able to fly brings in the challenges of a full set of skills that are not currently required of drivers. Are flying cars in the near future? Will we have to learn how to fly in order to have specific class of license before having the ability to buy one of these cars? Only time will tell, but the futuristic looking and performing cars seem to be in the very near future for all of us to enjoy.
