Do you want a Toyota Corolla that looks mean but isn’t? If so, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition could be what you’re after.
Many automakers offer blacked-out treatments in stylish cosmetic packages to give vehicles a more sinister appearance. These models don’t always come with performance upgrades, but they look extremely cool and menacing on the road. The new Corolla Nightshade Edition does just that. It’s not mechanically different from the regular Toyota compact, but the look will capture your attention and make you wonder what’s under the hood.
Nightshade brings the style
How can you make a regular Toyota Corolla appear to be a bit more enticing and sophisticated than it truly is? The answer came when Toyota saw other automakers adding black exterior features to the mix. These dark aesthetic features offer an air of elegance and sophistication not often seen in the Toyota lineup. The Nightshade Edition was part of the previous models but somehow was skipped for the 2023 model year. Thankfully, this package brings back more of what we want to see. New models wearing these dark features should arrive on dealer lots before the end of this year, offering us more of what we want for the 2024 version.
What does the Nightshade Edition package include?
The Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition features black exterior trim pieces, 18-inch bronze wheels, black badges, and a gloss-black mesh grille. The sedan models receive a rear spoiler, while the hatchback version has a two-tone paint job and an aggressive rear wing spoiler. These exterior elements bring a sportier and more stylish look to the car. You might expect to find a more powerful engine under the skin, but you won’t unless you choose one of the new GR Corolla models that are made to take on the Honda Civic Type R.
Which Corolla models can receive this treatment?
The Nightshade Edition package isn’t saved for one specific version of the Corolla. You can have these dark treatments added to the Hybrid version and enjoy up to 47 mpg combined with either FWD or AWD. This model gives you a great look and impressive fuel savings while out for a drive. If you’d rather avoid the hybrid, the gas-only Corolla is also eligible for the dark elements. This model brings a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 169 horsepower which is routed through a CVT. This isn’t exactly the type of powertrain that strikes fear into the hearts and minds of those it faces.
Who wouldn’t love a Corolla?
The Toyota Corolla might not be for everyone, but it’s certainly been the car of choice for many. This compact Toyota has a long track record as a good value in its class. Toyota hinges its reputation for reliability on this and other cars in its lineup. The 2023 version received a refreshed front end with new rear styling, making it a better-looking car than in the past. This refresh included the addition of new LED headlights along with a new bumper and grille.
A dark car that inspires safety
The Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition is all about looks, but it’s still a Corolla, and that means safety. This darkened car brings the benefits of the standard Safety Sense 3.0 package to the road. This means you’ll have a sophisticated machine that helps you avoid a collision with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. These features provide the warnings and alerts you need to stay out of trouble while driving your small Toyota in heavy traffic.
Add the Apex Edition Package for a sportier stance
Combine the benefits of the Nightshade Edition and Apex Edition, and you’ll have a car that offers the sport stance desired in tuner cars. The Apex Edition brings you a lowered, sport-tuned suspension, sport-tuned exhaust, and a sport appearance package. Toss in the dark features of the Nightshade Edition, and you’ve got a car that looks the part of a tuner delight. Of course, you might get challenged to some red light races, which could be a little embarrassing for you with this small Toyota; it’s still a standard Corolla under the skin.
It won’t be long until you can get behind the wheel of a small, reliable, and extremely attractive Toyota compact sedan. The 2024 Toyota Corolla Nightshade Edition is on the way to dealers and will give us something new and interesting in this lineup. Will you add this package to your small Toyota sedan or hatchback?
