The fact that you’re on a tight budget shouldn’t dissuade you from being able to drive the vehicle you want from the brand you love. Many of the vehicles offered as new models on the market that will fit your budget when you have to shop in the under $25,000 range will be either a compact sedan or small coupe. Most of the SUV’s don’t fall in under this price mark, but the Jeep Compass does and you can enjoy a great driver from the off road brand you trust the most to give you the look and feel you desire.
The Jeep Compass allows you to find yourself in a brand new vehicle and stay in the lower price range you need. This is the perfect vehicle to use when you need something that can give you room for five passengers and isn’t a sedan or compact car. For 2017 this Jeep hasn’t undergone any changes as it’s nearing a time when it will be refreshed on the market to give you a new look and feel to enjoy, this makes the 2017 model an excellent choice to have the ride you want.
This is a small SUV you can feel comfortable taking off road when you need to with the Freedom Drive II package that puts you on the trails you want to enjoy. The drive of this SUV feels more like a car than most other Jeep models, making it a ride that you’ll quickly get used to because this vehicle offers you the ride you want and the steering that feels just right as you maneuver this SUV on the highway or in the city.
Pop the hood of the Compass at your local Jeep dealer and you’ll find one of two engines underneath to power this beauty. The base engine for the Compass is a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder model that gives you 158 horsepower and 141 lb.-ft. of torque. This version can only be set up in FWD and uses either a five-speed manual transmission to give you 23 city/30 hwy mpg or a CVT automatic that returns 22 city/26 hwy mpg of fuel mileage for you to enjoy the ride.
The upgraded engine is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder that produces 172 horsepower and 165 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine can be attached to a six-speed manual or two different CVT automatic transmissions and is capable of pulling a 2,000 pound trailer behind the vehicle. Choosing this engine is the only way you can have FWD at all on the Compass and fuel mileage numbers come in at 23 city/28 hwy mpg for the manual in FWD, 21 city/27 hwy mpg for the FWD automatic, 22 city/27 hwy mpg for the 4WD and manual, 20 city/25 hwy mpg for the Freedom Drive I 4WD automatic and 20 city/23 hwy mpg for the Freedom Drive II w/Off Road package in the 4WD CVT.
At the base model, the Compass Sport comes with air conditioning, cruise control, power heated outside mirrors, power windows and door locks, a four-speaker audio system with an auxiliary jack and 16-inch aluminum wheels.
