2017 Dodge Journey: Versatility and Capability for You
When you have a family and need to have an SUV for the drive and carrying to the different destinations you go to each week the Dodge Journey is a great choice. This is a seven-passenger crossover SUV that gives you the value you want and offers the versatility that can make it fit into your life the way you want it to. If you’re at a point in your life where a minivan is no longer attractive to you and your family, the Dodge Journey could be the best choice you can make for your driving needs.
The Journey offers you room for seven which also means if you only have five to go along with you there will be more cargo room in the back than with most small SUVs. This comes to you at a price that you’ll be able to afford and offers you several great options to add to the mix of this excellent SUV. For 2017 the Journey drops the R/T trim and a new GT trim is added. The Crossroad trim adds a satin carbon wheel finish and two new colors to give you the ability to have your Journey in Spitfire Orange and Rhino Clear Coat if you want.
The Dodge Journey offers you two engines under the hood to give you the drive you need and want to enjoy. The base engine is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder model that’s put in the SE, SXT and Crossroad models while bringing you 173 horsepower and 166 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is attached to a four-speed automatic transmission that might feel a bit rough, but it does return you 19 city/25 hwy mpg of fuel mileage. This small powertrain is capable of towing up to 1,000 pounds to give you the ability to take more with you.
Moving up to the more powerful engine you find yourself with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that brings in 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine uses a six-speed automatic transmission which shifts a bit smoother and gives you the ability to enjoy AWD or the standard FWD setup. The GT trim is the only trim that offers the AWD as standard equipment. The fuel mileage you receive with this powertrain is 17 city/25 hwy mpg for the FWD models and 16 city/24 hwy mpg for the AWD versions and this powertrain can also tow as much as 2,500 pounds.
I mentioned that this SUV is affordable and it certainly is one of the lowest priced seven passenger models you’ll find at $22,300 for the base mode. Moving up to the SXT and Crossroad will expect that you pay in the upper $20,000 range and the GT model with AWD will cost you a price that comes in the mid $30,000 price range. This all makes the Journey one of the best values in the market when you want a great new SUV to carry your whole family where you need to go.
With five trims to choose from on this SUV we need to discuss the amazing equipment that’s present on the Journey. The base SE model gives you dual zone climate controls, a 4.3-inch touch screen infotainment system, keyless entry, push button starting, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, power windows and locks, a six-speaker audio system with auxiliary and USB ports, electronic traction control and a host of airbags. The only item missing is Bluetooth, which is options on the Journey, but this is a complete list of great items for you to have at the base price of this SUV.
Looking to the options you can enjoy an 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect infotainment system, a navigation system, leather upholstery, premium speakers, a rear seat video entertainment system with a nine-inch screen and two wireless headphones, Wi-Fi hotspot, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a rearview camera, and a reverse distance alert function.
The Dodge Journey gives you an SUV that makes a huge difference for your family as a versatile and capable SUV. You can carry what you need and bring along who you want with this SUV that can fit everyone and everything for you.
