The trend in the automotive industry is to push for multi-use platforms. Volkswagen and Toyota are going strong towards using a single platform for the majority of their vehicles. Now, Ford is diving in as well with their redesigned 2016 Ford Taurus.
The car is going to be built on a Fusion framework. This makes sense since the cars are similar in size and it’s a good starting point for the US automaker. It is planned to go on sale in the third quarter next year.
According to Edmunds:
Ford’s redesigned 2016 Taurus will be lighter, faster and more fuel efficient when it goes on sale in the third quarter of 2015
