BMW has a ton of different performing vehicles that are all built to offer something new and different to each other. A simple look at the different X model SUVs will give a look at a brawny and muscular look of the X3 and X5 that changes completely when the X6 is in the group. The BMW X6 shows up as a sleek looking high performance SUV that has a very sporty look to it for those looking for a vehicle that has gone against the grain and away from the boxy style that used to haunt almost every single SUV on the market.
When all that is needed from an SUV is high performance and seating isn’t really a factor the X6 is the right choice to get the job done. This performance on the road still allows for some great utility and capability on light off road trails to remind owners this is actually an SUV and not just an oversized sedan. For 2015 the X6 adds a new interior and exterior look along with a more powerful V8 engine and rear-wheel drive in the base model. To make power hungry shoppers happy the X6 adds the M model to the bunch which brings in 567 horsepower.
Driving in the X6 is smooth and precise and full of great surprises. Some of these surprises come in the form of AWD, hill decent control, and a high powered high performing vehicle that has a very smooth and enjoyable ride. This smooth ride is the result of a highly tuned sport suspension that handles all road issues and laughs at them along with an amazing steering system that offers a responsiveness that is mostly unrivaled. All this together gives the X6 the ability to pamper occupants on the road and on some light trails; heavier trails cannot be traversed because of the low ground clearance.
Under the hood can be found three different turbocharged engines that offer excellent power and performance. All three are attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission along with a start/stop feature to help add to the fuel savings that can be enjoyed.
The first engine offered is the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine found in the sDrive35i model. This engine offers up to 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. Attached to the transmission this model gives fuel efficiency numbers of 19 city/27 hwy mpg for the RWD version and 18 city/27 hwy mpg for the AWD models.
Next up is a 4.4-liter V8 engine that is located in the xDrive50i. This power plant shows off with 445 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque and gives a fuel mileage that comes in at 15 city/22 hwy mpg for owners to enjoy a great boost in power without losing out on a lot of fuel mileage.
At the top end the M model carries an engine that is the 4.4-liter V8 version that offers the monstrous 567 horsepower and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. For those who can afford it and are looking for the most power in the sleek and stylish SUV the M is the best choice and this engine will excite all inside.
The inside of the X6 is as fitting to be in a BMW as any interior can be. It is full of awesome materials covering every surface and gives anyone inside no doubt of its high-end luxury form. The seating is very comfortable with plenty of leg and head room for five people to ride along in style and grace. The controls are excellent and top of the line to give plenty of great features a twist and turn of a dial or knob to be enjoyed.
On the outside the X6 does look like it has a sports car back end, an SUV front end and a bit of clearance over the road to give drivers a higher vantage point. All of this together gives a high performance vehicle that doesn’t need to look like and SUV. The front end is adorned in BMW style with the cross hairs grill and a slight slope to the hood. The roof line on the other hand is very sleek sloping backward to give the vehicle a strong aerodynamic look. The wheels are heavily spoked and muscular to finish off what looks like a vehicle that would be a lot of fun to drive for just about anyone who wants to give the X6 a ride.
The standard features offered for the X6 come in as a very long list that is fully expected for a luxury model, especially BMW. Starting with the sDrive35i the equipment is a leather interior, moonroof, power tailgate, parking sensors, a 40/20/40 split folding rear seat, ten-way power front seats with heat, a universal garage remote, a navigation system, a nine-speaker audio system with Bluetooth streaming, a USB port and a hard drive for music storage. The xDrive35i adds the AWD system and hill-decent control and the xDrive50i adds twenty-way power front seats and the Comfort Access hands-free tailgate.
Optional features for the X6 show up to include the Driver Assistance package that adds a rearview camera and a heads up display. The Driver Assistance Plus package adds blind spot monitoring, a bird’s-eye-view camera system, active cruise control and lane departure warning. Other not packaged options include ventilated front seats, satellite radio, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, four-zone climate control, 20-inch wheels and a high-end Harman/kardon or Bang & Olufsen sound systems to really crank the music.

Adding the AWD to the base increases the price a bit as does adding many of the different features however the X6 is made to be a top performer on any road or a little bit off road which gives any owner a smile every time they get behind the wheel.
