More than 100 Years of Experience Pays Off

01.25.17 - GMC Canyon

While nearly every manufacturer can boast some form of awards for their vehicles because of a particular feature or another, there is a small segment of the market that is gathering more attention than ever and will be one that every company involved wants to lead in the future. This segment is the midsized truck class and right now there is one truck that stands head and shoulders above the rest in the class to be the truck you should consider when you want to buy a truck that is part of this class.

With the competition for the Cars.com award of the Best Midsized Pickup Truck on the line the competitors were the 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2017 Honda Ridgeline, 2016 Toyota Tacoma and 2016 Nissan Frontier. It should come as no surprise that the 2016 GMC Canyon is the truck that was left standing at the end of the competition and this truck has earned the award. What makes this a bit more interesting is the fact that the Canyon is the only premium midsized truck, which means it could be in a class all by itself, but going head to head with the rest shows just how superior the Canyon is.

GMC has been building trucks since 1902 when there was barely a vehicle on the roads and most trucks were relegated to farm work and weren’t meant to be used to carry people as much as product. This experience certainly pays off to bring the GMC Canyon to the market and make it the one that would be chosen by Cars.com to earn the award for the Best Midsize Pickup Truck for 2016.

GMC has no intention of slowing down when it comes to the Canyon either, they have already announced two new trim levels for the 2017 model year along with a new powertrain that can be had on any model of the Canyon. While other models work to catch up with what GM has brought back to the market and still others work to reenter the market that was all but abandoned in the past, GMC has continued to build the trucks that we want to drive with the amazing features and comfort that has become associated with what GMC has to offer us on the market. The Canyon will continue to be a leader amongst this class, especially when the new trims are offered.

What are these new trims? The first is exactly what you would expect, a Denali trim that will have all the luxury and comfort that makes many of us choose GMC when we want a great ride and all the features that we can have. The other trim is the new Terrain X which adds more off road capabilities to ensure we have the ability to bring anything we want to the party in the outdoors. These two new trim levels will allow the Canyon to continue to be the right truck for more of us to enjoy on and off the road.
