STI Performance Concept BRZ

Subaru is Peddling its Wares in a Different Way

The brand that has brought us the boxer engine that offers a more even distribution of weight for the car and a standard all-wheel drive across the lineup, Subaru shows off its enigma of a car, the BRZ as one that will carry the next part of Subaru development on its back. The BRZ may be the most potent and capable car in the lineup, but it’s the only one that doesn’t offer AWD however with the new direction of offering aftermarket parts, participating in motorsports and selling specialty modified vehicles. This new division of Subaru will be called the STI Division and offers us a look at the STI Performance Concept BRZ to view.

The BRZ is the right car to build this platform on as it is a true sports car in every way except the engine. The engine for a standard BRZ is good enough in its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gives up only 200 horsepower, but that is actually a good amount for a sports car that is on the lower end of the pricing spectrum which is especially useful for used car dealerships. This number is stout enough to handle the car, but what would happen if the engine was made to bring out the most performance possible.

When the STI Division go hold of this awesome car the power numbers were upgraded to 350 horsepower, a huge improvement over the previous number. Of course you can’t nearly double the power and not improve other parts so the suspension has been upgraded and an enhanced aerodynamics package give the car a faster speed and the ability to turn harder.

Sometimes when a foreign company offers a high-performance vehicle the car does not get to show itself in US soil but thankfully the STI Division is going to make the STI-modified Subaru models available in the US. This may mean we get to see more than just the BRZ but could see a series of STI vehicles that have AWD aboard to give an even stronger control for this line of cars that gives us the trustworthiness of AWD and the power we desire from the STI Division. Having this be the new and certain performance enhanced division of Subaru may also lead into some awesome motorsports performances that we have not seen in the recent past, the actual results are currently unlimited for us to discuss.

One thing we can surely discuss is the expected pricing. In many cases cars that have a large degree of aftermarket performance enhancing done to them end up having a price tag that comes in nearly double what the car was originally. If every Subaru gains nearly double the power and adds the performance features the BRZ Performance Concept the overall price might just be worth it, especially if your goal with your new BRZ or other model of Subaru is to race the car.
