Corvette Z06 vs GT-R Nismo

Pick One: Two Semi-Affordable Supercars to Choose from

Supercars are typically too expensive for nearly everyone to afford but in the case of the Nissan GT-R Nismo and the Chevrolet Corvette, the affordability factor is brought more in line with the general public than with names like Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and especially Bugatti. These two in fact seem like the most playful and easily enjoyed supercars in any grouping, giving you the choice of two awesome machines that will give you all the fun you could want in a package that is amazing and powerful, exactly what you want when you spend the money for one of these high-powered beasts.

GT-R Nismo

The 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo is a long anticipated, often desired and never duplicated super power. This beauty is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that puts out a massive 600 horsepower and 481 lb.-ft. of torque. This beauty carried in all-wheel drive and a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission to give you the most control possible from the dynamic speedster. All this is packaged in a highly attractive sports car that offers some of the most fun possible on and off the track.

How does all this power translate to performance? The GT-R Nismo can reach sixty mph in 2.9 seconds and does an 11.0 second quarter mile that brings in a speed of 126.6 mph. These number make this beauty one seriously fast car to fully enjoy and give us more than enough fun from behind the wheel. Giving the handling a test, the GT-R Nismo completed a figure-eight test in 23.1 seconds at 0.99 g and pulled 1.03 g.

Corvette Z06

Who doesn’t love a Corvette? It’s the epitome of Americana, an icon worth the price and anticipation for all Corvette lovers. This beauty is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 pushing out 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. This rear-wheel drive king of the road gives you an amazing seven-speed manual transmission to use or an eight-speed automatic depending upon what you desire.

How does the longstanding champ of American sports cars compare to the GT-R Nismo? The Corvette gives us a time to sixty mph in only 3.3 seconds and a quarter mile of 11.4 seconds at 124.4 mph making it slightly slower than the GT-R. On the figure-eight, the Corvette Z06 showed up strong with a time of 22.3 seconds and 1.06 g average while pulling 1.17 g. This made the Corvette the champ around a track with turns and a need for real handling.

Both these cars are awesome in their own right and we would be lucky to find either one in our driveways. If you want straight line, get it done speed, the Nissan GT-R Nismo is the right choice. For an all-around champion that can give you the track run you want and handle perfectly, choose the Corvette. More buyers will probably choose the Corvette anyway because if its reputation, name and overall expected performance, but the GT-R is absolutely no slouch. This is one tough choice, with both of them being the right one to choose.
