More News on the New Jeep Wrangler

There are times it seems we make a big deal over something small. We made a huge deal out of the AWD system that Ford put into the Focus RS and there have been other examples as well. As one of the most iconic vehicles on the road since World War II the changes being made to the Jeep Wrangler feel more like a big deal every time we see a new one that’s being proposed. One of the areas that has always won us over with the Wrangler has been the removable roof that’s been part of what this SUV has offered for generations.

As this SUV prepares to be a new model for the 2018 model year we’ve seen a variety of prototypes out testing and now these test models are offering us something different and more interesting than ever before. The new roof that’s being considered for the four-door version of the Jeep Wrangler is a three-piece hardtop that allows you to have more fun than ever. The idea behind this roof is that you can remove two of the roof panels and keep one intact to allow it to be enjoyed with some pillars in place during the production of the vehicle.

The three-piece hardtop roof option isn’t the only one you’ll see on the new Wrangler. There is rumors of a hard glass roof, a retractable roof that’s made of fabric and the classic removable soft folding rood that we’ve loved for many years and a few generations. This could give us a variety of choices that we can enjoy on the Jeep Wrangler as it comes into a new generation and is expected to have some style changes but still maintain the classic good looks that we’ve loved for many years.

This new model of the Wrangler isn’t just being changed on top with new roof options, there is expected to be a lighter build to the Jeep with a body that uses some aluminum but still is mostly built from steel. This is after all the most popular off road vehicle on the market today and the need to be tough on the outside remains. There could be a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine called the Hurricane and the classic Pentastar V6 that we’ve loved for many years. A new eight-speed automatic transmission could be found paired to the engine lineup of the new Wrangler.

The new Wrangler is on its way and there are many great ways this new SUV will actually be offered with upgrades that we want to make it more modern, while it maintains the classic look and feel we’ve enjoyed for so many decades. This SUV continues to be one of our favorites on the road and on the trails to be a great way for us to enjoy the ride. As it comes closer, I’m sure we’ll see even more impressive upgrades offered on the Jeep Wrangler and what this vehicle will be as it comes to the market in the next several months.
