GMC Sierra 1500

Insane Horsepower at a Great Price

The horsepower threshold is usually set around 300 which are great for most drivers and the sports cars they choose.  Heck there are even sedan that can reach up in the 300 pony range now and give you a great ride, but if you have been driving at this power level for a long time and really want to try your hand at more power (I can hear the grunts from Tim Taylor now) then you should move up to the 400 horsepower club.  One of the drawbacks to this group is usually price, but I am here to tell you that you can have a great 400 horsepower or more car for a price you can afford and here are ten of them to show you what I mean.

Chevrolet Corvette $56,395 – The Corvette has stood out as one of the most affordable high powered cars that we love each and every year.  You don’t need a villa or a collection to enjoy and admire this beauty and you certainly will be amazed by the 6.2-liter V8 that churns out 455 horsepower to give you the ability to make the run to sixty mph in less than four seconds.  Grab your piece of Americana and enjoy the ride in this awesome supercar that will need some track time soon.

Kia K900 $55,400 – This is the Kia version of a luxury car and it has everything you could want in a luxury sedan including a highly powerful engine.  Even though the market has not recognized the K900 as a car that is on par with the German luxury brands it shows up with a strong 5.0-liter V8 that makes 420 horsepower and a full menu of luxury features which are in place to give you the ride you want at a much lower price than most in its class.

Hyundai Genesis 5.0 $52,450 – The Genesis has finally gained the respect it has deserved for years as Hyundai seems to have cracked the code for luxury and power.  This car offers you a sport model that is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 rated for 420 horsepower.  As a smooth ride and a feature filled luxury model the Genesis is a car that has become a favorite for those who are a bit more frugal and don’t concern themselves with the nameplate as much as the value.

Dodge Charger SRT $48,990 – This model of the Charger is not the top end, but it doesn’t have to be in order to join this particular club.  We all know about the Hellcat and its 707 horsepower, but this car is a lot less expensive and packs a wallop with the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 rated at over 400 horsepower and 485 lb.-ft. of torque making it a choice that is even more power than the Corvette on this list.  You can certainly have a lot of fun driving this Charger and not break your bank account.

Chevrolet SS $48,040 – The SS is a quiet competitor in this group, at least until you start the engine.  If you don’t know about this car it looks like a mild-mannered sedan even though it has a massive 6.2-liter V8 under the hood which makes 415 horsepower which is sent directly to the rear wheels to give this beauty a wild ride.  The SS offers a dynamic suspension and the ability to beat many of the sports cars on the road today, giving you bragging rights in your family sedan.

GMC Sierra 1500 Double Cab, Standard Box SLT 2WD $44,590 – We see trucks that can reach over 400 horsepower as well, even though with trucks the focus is usually on the torque and how much low end power can be found.  This truck benefits from the 6.2-liter V8 engine which gives you more than 400 horsepower to give you the power to ride fast or to pull out a tree from the ground.  Whatever the task is you can get the job done with this big powerful truck.

Dodge Challenger SRT $44,590 – Where the Charger is a four door sedan which is fit for the family; the Challenger is a pure muscle car that offers only two doors and the awesome classic looks that resemble the muscle cars of years ago.  This beauty carries in the same power as the Charger to give you a car that can go fast from the line and around the track as well as a car that will give you bragging rights and a lot of excitement for a reasonable price.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Double Cab Standard Box LTZ Z71 $44,180 – Of course the Silverado is on the list if the Sierra is here.  This truck offers you the same power from the engine the Sierra has at the 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque mark with a bit of a lower price.  This particular truck is only available at the LTZ trim, which represents the top for a GM trim level.  This means the Silverado is pretty close to a luxury vehicle.

Chevrolet Camaro SS $37,295 – This beauty is a classic of American muscle and give you a car that can blow the doors off others at a price you can truly afford and appreciate.  I am a little biased with this vehicle, but to give you the numbers you will get a 6.2-liter V8 engine that pushes out 455 horsepower at this price giving you one of the most affordable ways to get over 400 horsepower.  Let your heart beat out of your chest with this one when you take it to the track.

Ford Mustang GT $32,300 – The Mustang GT is the top of the list as the most affordable car that offers over 400 horsepower.  This car gives you the classic 5.0-liter V8 which makes 435 horsepower in a car that looks great and feels awesome from behind the wheel.  You can certainly feel proud when you choose this car as the one you want because you are getting a great deal in power at a price that is what many sedans go for.
