11.14.16 - Ford Edge

Which Crossover SUV do You Choose?

While most of the SUV world is made for the utility of driving and hauling around people and their gear, some SUVs are now becoming more stylish, more performance oriented and ready for you to enjoy a drive that’s similar to a car. These vehicles don’t toss capability and capacity out the window, but put a larger emphasis on the look and feel of the drive to focus on the sport part of the SUV title.

The two that I present for you to look at together today are the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano, both of which are stylish and sporty SUVs that give you the space and drive you want. Looking to the Ford first shows you a vehicle that has the advanced bodywork and build to be substantial but attractive. The lines are reminiscent of a luxury automaker and the designs are of a quality that makes it fee amazing.

When you get past the skin of the Edge you find three engines you can choose from under the hood. The base power plant is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that gives you 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque. Moving up the line you could have a 3.5-liter V6 that brings in 280 ponies or a 2.7-liter EcoBoost six-cylinder model that pushes the power to 315 horses under the hood. The automatic transmission is the standard for all three engines and AWD is offered with all the engines to give you more control and a much better overall ride.

The Murano offers you the bodywork that’s stylish and angular in a way that can be described as a larger Juke. There’s nothing conservative about the look and feel of this SUV as it has a “look at me” quality that you might find to be extremely impressive for the ride. The interior carries over that style to give you a look and feel that makes you know this is an SUV that put a premium on its looks to make sure you could have a vehicle you felt was the right choice for you and your driving.

Of course the Murano isn’t just a surface beauty as it gives you a powertrain that’s familiar and substantial to have everything you need under the hood. This powertrain starts with the 3.5-liter V6 engine that pushes out 260 horsepower and 240 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is mated to an Xtronic CVT to give you a smooth way to have the power sent to the wheels. This singular powertrain has allowed the Murano to be offered with a ton of great features to give you the drive you want to enjoy with all the equipment you need to have in your SUV.

Both these vehicles are impressive in their own right and give you gorgeous looks along with the ride you want to enjoy. The only question for you is which one is the right one for you to drive? Do you like the engine choices of the Ford or the polarizing style of the Nissan?
