A 1948 Cadillac That’s a Restomod in Reverse

Typically the term restomod has to do with restoring an older model and making it more modern. This is a request given to many custom car builders when a customer wants to drive that mode from many decades ago, but wants to also know they can enjoy modern conveniences and safety standards that make more sense today. This is a great way to have a classic car that offers modern features and gives the comfort of a more familiar drive. With this blend of the old and the new owners can love their vehicle for many years beyond what it was originally built for.

Most of the time a restomod build is done by taking an old car and simply adding new components to it in some places. This could mean keeping the body, chassis and engine intact while adding modern seats and electronics or an upgraded suspension. What happens when a company chooses to perform a restomod in reverse? This is what Ringbrothers chose to do in order to create their new 1948 Cadillac that has been called the Madam V.

The Madam V is actually the body of a 1948 Cadillac that’s been heavily modified with a new ATS-V underneath. This car is amazing and it showed up at the SEMA show in Las Vegas as the car that was presented by Jim and Mike Ring of Ringbrothers. In order to make this work they used two ATS-V models, one from 2015 and one from 2016 and cut the body off one of them. They were able to stretch the chassis fourteen inches and then worked the body panels of the 1948 Series 62 Coupe onto the chassis to make it all fit together in a way that’s never been seen before.

The beauty of this car isn’t just in keeping the interior modern and the exterior classic, it’s the way it all blends together so well. Normally when a restomod is done many of the added features aren’t as modern as you might like, but not with this one. All the electronics are still in place and even the electronically assisted chassis hardware functions like it supposed to after the lengthening of this part of the car. Because all the underpinnings were kept this car offers you the 464 horsepower of the V6 engine that you expect from the ATS-V with a body that looks like it just came to you from seventy years ago.

Showing off a stock interior that’s been perfectly blended with the exterior from 1948 you see a car that offers you the build, the drive and the beauty that you want to enjoy on the road. Here you have a restomod that gives you all the wonderful Cadillac conveniences that you want to enjoy while showing off the look and feel of a car that came out of the days gone by. The Madam V is a car that certainly will catch your eye and showed us what the Ringbrothers can do when they brought it to SEMA.
